'Ello there! I just received this beauty in the mail and thought I'd share her with y'all! This is my first platinum Barbie doll and it's also my first year as a member of the Barbie Fan Club. The Classic Evening Gown Barbie doll was only available to members of the club and I knew I had to try and get her as my first. I'll get into the shopping experience at the end of the post, but let's get started with some photos!
The doll arrives in a black box that is carefully wrapped in tissue paper and packaged in a shipper.
Once opened, her box features a clear protective plastic cover which is great for display.
Here's a close-up with the plastic cover removed.
I examined the doll quite carefully and the only flaw I could find was a very tiny spot of makeup paint under her left inner eye. Definitely not something that would keep me from enjoying the doll... you have to hold her right up to your face to see it anyway.
A top to bottom view of her straight on.
From yet another angle~ :b
Photo showing off her cuff and nail polish.
The details and crystals on her dress.
It's impossible to get a full photo of her shoes without removing the stitching that attaches her gown to the box (and I'm still not sure whether to keep her in the box or not) but her shoes appear to be black strappy heels with a pointed closed toe.
And finally a view of the back of the box.
My doll is number 158 out of 999.
So I know this is not a proper review since I didn't debox her yet, but I honestly think she looks great from what I've seen examining her in the box so I'm pretty pleased.
On to the shopping experience! I had been reading past horror stories about it from others, but it certainly was not as bad as some of the American Girl sales. Also, I guess I'm pretty lucky when it comes to sales like these, even with my ultra-slow computer I always manage to get dolls from online sales when I try. For this year's platinum sale I wasn't very stressed because I've been fairly spoiled with a lot of collector dolls this year and I guess I wouldn't have minded much if I missed out, so I didn't have the crazy adrenaline rush that usually comes with stressful sales. What ended up happening is that I just leisurely refreshed the page until it let me add her to the cart, after about 45 mins of the commencement of the sale, and since I had my card info saved I only needed to put in the 3 digits and then I pasted in a free shipping code (yay!) and all was done.
I suppose that's not really much of a story but I thought it'd be nice to share a platinum barbie shopping experience that was more on the pleasant side of things. As always, I apologize for not posting more frequently, and that I apparently didn't schedule the draft of my last entry to post as I promised. I've had some stressful days, and a lot has changed over the past few months, but I have a lot to write about and pictures to share. On the topic of sales, I have two Jill's Steals and Deals American Girl hauls that I've been meaning to share so stay tuned for that!

What a fantastic Barbie! You are so lucky to have gotten such a low production number.
I'm surprised the number was so low too! I love her! ^^
