My American Girl #55 (Just Like you) Doll - Review and photos!~

Meet another new friend, she's a My American Girl (Just Like You) Doll! She's number 55 (or 1275 as the magazine has her listed) and she has light skin with freckles, dark brown wavy hair, and hazel eyes. I chose her because I also fit said description, and as far as I'm aware, American Girl is one of the only doll manufactures that make a doll with this combination of physical attributes. I did consider the Girl of the Year doll, Isabelle, because while I naturally have dark hair it's often bleached a shade of blonde, but she didn't have freckles and I was pretty much sold on getting a doll with freckles as soon as I saw #55. Unfortunately, I did have to purchase her online as the nearest store is hours away and would require the additional expense of several toll bridges on the way... so... maybe I'll get to experience the store next time!

Why don't I get started with some pictures! Here she is in the box, complete with hairnet XD

I decided to name her Indiana Rose Jones. Growing up with the family name Jones, my parents have always regretted not naming anyone (including pets) Indiana. Oh the regret they surely felt when I told them later on that I wouldn't have minded! So the name really just felt perfect and I thought Rose was a pretty accompaniment. I'm sure some of you doll aficionados are also fans of those movies too, right?!

Waiting patiently in the box. Looks like she's enjoying the view of the garden outside.

Once opened, you can plainly see that the doll has been carefully strapped in for safe travel! I believe her outfit is called True Spirit. It consists of the top, skirt, boots, and pink undergarment.

Her boots are wrapped in foam, which is then wrapped in cardboard, which is kept in place with a rubber band.

Her neck is wrapped in foam and an elastic band that attaches to plastic hooks behind her. You may also notice the sides of the box near her arms have sheets of plastic for additional scuff protection... Oh ,and of course, the hairnet to keep her hair in place during her travels.

I did my best to make a doll sized playroom for the out-of-box photos.

In classic black and white. I probably should have taken the time to make a faux frame for the winter scene on the wall.

Cool Feature: Her hands are molded in a way that she can actually hold things if you place them just right in her hand!

Holding a vintage Dazzle Doll I picked up on eBay years ago.

Holding a Madame Alexander from a McDonald's Happy Meal! ^^

With her cat collection. She has a cute outfit, although I wish the shirt were a little darker. I prefer hot pink and fuchsia.

The designs are adorable though.

Her boots are neat. I like the green embroidery!

Favorite feature: Her fabulous freckles! They really set her apart from almost all of my other dolls.

A shot of her luxurious hair. I brushed it a little after removing her hairnet before taking these photographs.

Another view showing her flowing side-parted hair and another cool feature: her eyes!

The eyes are really detailed and quite impressive in person. (Please excuse the awkward reflection of my photography lighting).

She also arrived with a booklet including a code for Innerstar U and a charm necklace. Innerstar U is sort of addictive and really fun. I honestly learned some new things while playing the nature hiking game, so the games are educational, even for adults! XD

P.S. I had my doll's ears pierced and she came with a box of earrings, which I forgot to photograph. I'll get them next time. You guys can expect another American Girl post coming in the future because I ordered her some additional outfits. I do think the True Spirit outfit is cute, but it's not my style and I found a couple outfits in the online store that I loved!

Until then!~ ♥♥♥
